'Isola Sarda' is an initiative begun in June 1996. It is one of the very first Sardinian sites to appear on Internet and therefore well-known to the telematic users, interested in our island.
To give you some numbers, there are between 10,000 to 15,000 visitors to the site during the Winter months, reaching up to 25,000 in Summer, owing to the considerable tourist interest in our region. These numbers refer to the "unique visitors" and not the "access" or "hits", which obviously would be greater and are certified and available for the software consultation, by counting the Wusage accesses installed in the server.
Isola Sarda is run by the Associazione Culturale Ciberterra and among its aims, is the spreading of the Sardinian culture in all its aspects, apart from acting as a point of contact between the resident Sards and our many emigrants, or simply, the visitors who have fallen in love with our land. It is not by chance, that the home page of the Isola Sarda has been translated into 40 languages, which probably constitutes a record and however, many pages are in English, German, French and Portuguese.
Although for many years, the site has progressed without any sponsorization, the bad state of our equipment and our wish to develope new projects which need finance at our disposal, have convinced us to seek economic resources, by using the channel. However, we are dealing with extremely limited interventions so as not to bother our visitors and the sponsors themselves, whose presence will be put to advantage.
